The KPBS Assistant News Producer position (ie, the Penner Fellow Intern) is geared toward journalists starting out in their careers - either recently graduated from college, in their final year of college, or starting a new career in journalism. The Assistant News Producer works closely with the news team to create broadcast-worthy content focused on local issues important to the San Diego region. The Assistant News Producer assists with broadcast news production for KPBS Evening Edition and KPBS Roundtable. The position is responsible for helping us increase quality of programming in our TV and radio broadcasts that focus on local issues, including politics and governance, business, education, healthcare, environment, science and technology – stories that directly impact the lives of San Diegans. The Assistant News Producer will work under the direction of the Senior News Producer, and with News Editors, Producers and Video Journalists.
This position is designed for recent college graduates, students in their final year of college, or individuals who are starting a new career in journalism but all interested applicants are welcome to apply and will be considered.
