KCUR 89.3 is hiring a full time general assignment reporter to be an integral part of our growing newsroom and expand our weekend coverage. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, flexible self-starter who wants to develop their journalism skills in a vibrant Midwest city.
This reporter will brainstorm, research, write, report and produce spot news and long-form, NPR-standard features on issues in the region; create web and social content to accompany radio stories; participate in community engagement efforts; and appear as a guest on talk shows as needed.
We’re looking for someone who can be a primary responder to breaking news, most often on a Wednesday through Sunday schedule. We envision this role having the opportunity to serve as a backup for morning and afternoon newscasts. In short, a reporter who wants to immerse themselves in reporting.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
$19.47 to $25.00 per hour. Commensurate with experience and education.
