The Atlantic is looking for a creative marketer, hands-on executor, and customer advocate to join the Consumer Strategy and Growth team as a Growth Marketing Manager.
This person will focus on using email marketing to create deep and lasting relationships with our customers, but there will also be opportunities to help drive engagement across other digital channels, including onsite and performance marketing. The role is highly collaborative, partnering with Product and Engineering, Data Science, Live events, Editorial, Audience, and Customer Care to move the subscription business forward.
Candidates should have email marketing experience as well as a keen interest in maximizing the contribution of email marketing to the overall customer lifecycle. The role will report to our Associate Director, Engagement, Consumer Strategy and Growth.
The Growth Marketing Manager will:
Manage ongoing email marketing campaigns and automations using SailThru, from segmenting, staging and deploying emails to managing and refining email marketing automations
Analyze email marketing performance and prepare actionable recommendations to improve engagement and conversion rates
Own email marketing calendar and maintain it for cross-team collaboration
Help develop a robust A/B testing framework for email, where tests build on one another and ultimately grow our subscription business
Contribute to strategies that support newsletter list growth
Work closely with the acquisition and audience teams on complementary projects across the customer lifecycle
Experience in marketing, growth, advertising, or relevant fields (internships included)
Prior experience managing marketing efforts in an ESP
Foundational knowledge of email design with HTML and CSS
Knowledge of email best practices, CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA
Familiarity with analytics tools (like Looker), project management tools (Airtable, JIRA, Confluence), and email service providers (like Sailthru), is a plus
Strong writing skills and experience creating marketing content
Skilled communicator and adept collaborator
Keen sense of curiosity, organized, and highly collaborative
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
