    Summary:

     

    New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) is seeking an All Things Considered Host to guide listeners through the NPR news program by creating a sense of place with local news, information, and community connections. Working closely with the Senior Producer, News Director, and Program Director, the Host will write, edit, and deliver local newscasts, two-way interviews, manage the details of flawless execution of programming, and successfully operate the board during the afternoon drive shift along with special coverage as needed. The Host reports to the Senior Producer and this is an in-person position that is based in Concord, NH.

     

     

    Key Responsibilities Include:

     

            Host and help shape the editorial vision for the daily news program All Things Considered.

            Successfully operate the board during afternoon drive shift and manage the details of the live news program.

            Deliver underwriting announcements, weather forecasts, forward promotion copy and other information live on the air.

            File newscast and features on a wide range of topics, from arts and culture to politics.

            Research, conduct, record and edit interviews with newsmakers and journalists.

            Work with the News Director, Senior Producer, and Program Director to develop regular segments and occasional multi-part series. 

            Engage our audience through digital and social media.

            Participates in regular air checks with the Program Director

            Host live events for the station as needed

            Monitor broadcast equipment and transmission for proper functioning.

            Monitor Emergency Activation Alert system and deliver alerts as needed.

            Participates in on-air fundraising as assigned.

     

     

    Preferred Experience:

     

    We’re looking for someone with…

     

            A minimum of 3 years of experience operating a broadcast console and/or audio equipment and at least 3 years of experience as an on-air host.

            Excellent board operation skills and an ability to deliver a seamless presentation with national programming.

            Excellent writing and editing skills, good news judgment and understanding of journalistic ethics and practices.

            An instinct for breaking news and a demonstrated commitment to innovation and audience growth.

            Radio editing and production skills, experience posting content to web and social media platforms, and knowledge of relevant FCC rules and regulations. 

            Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively as a member of a team.

            Bachelor’s degree in a related subject area such as digital, print or broadcast journalism or relevant experience.

    Compensation & Benefits:

     

    This a full time exempt position and the salary range for this role is $53,100 to $74,299 annually.

    NHPR offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package. Employees regularly scheduled for 20+ hours weekly are eligible for vacation, sick days, organizational holidays, and 403b participation. Full time employees (30+ hours weekly) may participate in all benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, STD/LTD, FSA, and 403b.

    This position is part of a bargaining unit and terms of employment are subject to the outcome of collective bargaining which is ongoing.
