Digital Assistant Editor

5280 Magazine is seeking a digital assistant editor to join its award-winning staff. The ideal candidate should be an ambitious, enthusiastic, collaborative junior writer and editor, who has a passion for high-quality journalism, creative storytelling, and magazine making in a digital format.

Responsibilities include:

• Researching, reporting, and writing weekly stories for 5280.com 

• Generating story ideas, while working with 5280’sdigital team to develop and implement a comprehensive digital strategy

• Collaborating with 5280’sdigital team to produce special projects, such as podcasts and videos

• Uploading digital posts to a CMS on a daily basis

• Fact-checking web content on an as-needed basis

• Assisting with writing, producing, and editing of 5280’s editorial newsletters

• Using analytics to identify trends and new opportunities for growth with site performance

• Creating and scheduling engaging social media posts across various platforms

Must-haves:

• Two years of experience at a print or digital publication (this can
  include internships)

Experience with:

• Reporting and writing short- to medium-length pieces for a lifestyle publication (print or digital)

• Implementing web content best practices, including SEO

• Photography, as well as podcast and video production

• Multitasking and performing well under tight deadlines

• Thinking creatively and working collaboratively

• Demonstrating strong communication skills

• Responding positively to peer feedback

Salary: Starting at $40,500
