Full-Time: Assistant Manager, Radio Operations

    KQED is the No. 1 rated radio station in the San Francisco Bay Area and a key provider of state and national news and programming. The programming department is responsible for that success, but is also excited about working to grow KQED’s connections and audiences in younger and more diverse communities around the Bay Area. 

    The Assistant Manager, Radio Operations, will help do that by serving as a conduit between the radio programming department, corporate sponsorship, on-air announcers, and the news department. This position will also work to satisfy the objectives prescribed by the Program Director and the operational activities supplied by the technical staff.  

    This position requires excellent skills in multitasking, organization and time management related to Radio Operations.

    Essential Functions:

    1. Prepares program log for broadcast using Wide Orbit and Dalet computer programs, which includes scheduling promos, underwriting, EAS tests, and programs.
    2. Oversees information related to operations such as program changes such as specials, and any last minute or temporary daily changes to the program log.
    3. Communicates with the sales traffic person and the Program Director to make underwriting avails and/or programming changes to the logs on a quarterly, monthly or daily basis.
    4. Works closely with the Program Director to alter the program log as needed to represent the programming/promotional changes as they arise.
    5. Schedule and prepare daily and weekly recordings/downloads for programs and promotional feeds, as needed by the Program Director, and other staff. 
    6. Requests and provides dubs of programs and feeds when they are missed or as requested by another station through the information pipelines available to radio operations.
    7. Monitors and responds to and, where relevant, disseminates information from the web and DACS for a variety of needs not limited to and including program rundowns, promotional, downlink, and fundraising information.
    8. Prepares the FCC Underwriting Quarterly report.
    9. Prepares affidavits for KQED Accounting.
    10. Works with Fundraising Coordinator to prepare special pledge and pledge free logs and programs for Radio Fund Drives.
    11. Other production, operations, technical and clerical tasks, as assigned.
    12. Prepares the FCC Underwriting Monthly report.
    13. Other production, operations, technical and clerical tasks, as assigned.

    Non-Essential Functions:    

    1. Assumes other duties as assigned.
    2. Produce radio promos and interstitials as needed.

      Knowledge/Experience Required:

    • Demonstrated ability to set priorities on a daily basis and to follow-through in accomplishing a varied series of tasks in a systematic manner.
    • Attention to detail oriented in a fast-paced work environment, preferably two to three years broadcasting or scheduling experience related.
    • Experience in Wide Orbit and/or Dalet programs preferred.
    • Technical experience necessary in broadcast equipment.
