    Qualifications: In order to facilitate the learning experience, the following qualifications are preferred:

    1) Broadcast Journalism, Media or Communications major

    2) Strong current events knowledge and interest in news and politics

    3) Knowledge of CNN news platforms (network shows, website) is helpful.

    Candidates should also be motivated, detail-oriented multi-taskers who function well under deadline pressures.

    Duties: Newsgathering Interns will learn how CNN plans stories and orchestrates live breaking news coverage and daily programming. Interns will shadow and assist coverage managers, assignment editors, beat leaders, producers, live producers, photojournalists and news assistants. Intern duties include research, fact-checking, tapes logging, assistance with interviews and participation at press events. Interns should come away with sharper editorial and writing skills, exposure to leading technology and increased knowledge of the U.S. government and political system. Hours will be flexible and may include weekends.

    Please Note: Students @ Work Internships are paid at minimum-wage and structured to last approximately 12 weeks. Program dates are June 3rd - August 9th. Course Credit is available. Resume is required. Students should have a strong academic record (3.0 strongly preferred). Students must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship (i.e. STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN SCHOOL DURING THE TIME OF THIS INTERNSHIP). Students seeking college credit are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Note to International Students: All international students will be required to provide documentation of proper visa paperwork prior to your arrival if accepted to the program.
