Job Opening: Project Coordinator at News Revenue Hub

    The News Revenue Hub, a nonprofit that builds web-based products and provides consulting to news organizations in service of the public good, is looking for versatile Project Coordinators who can be the digital newsroom leaders of tomorrow.

    Our Project Coordinators help support the key functions of a growing news consulting team. They assist with critical tasks including onboarding new newsroom clients into membership and audience development service offerings, establishing those newsrooms on our tech stack, and supporting project managers with deliverables. In playing a crucial infrastructure role for the team, the project coordinator will learn a wide variety of stratagems the Hub employs with newsrooms, including campaign strategy, SEO, analytics, loyalty, newsletters and product development, and more.The ideal candidate for this role is self-directed, savvy, and very comfortable managing their time and triaging tasks in a hybrid tech and service environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Client Deliverables 
      • Work with project managers to execute audience deliverables:
        • Learn to assess newsrooms’ strategies and performance on SEO, CTAs, newsletters, traffic performance, and more. Build scorecards to show newsrooms their opportunities
        • Train editorial teams on SEO
        • Assist in building presentations for newsrooms
      • Work with Project Managers to execute additional membership deliverables: 
        • Support clients during fundraising campaigns
        • Help newsrooms transform our campaign toolkits into captivating appeals that use their voice
        • Provide support configuring campaigns in MailChimp 
        • Create Salesforce reports for fundraising campaign analysis 
      • Work with special projects team to incubate and test new Hub products
        • Pitch in with our testing ground for improving existing services products
        • Help team develop an effective and efficient product methodology 
        • Assist with reintroducing improved Hub products back into the client environment
      • Work closely with Project Managers to execute onboarding process:
        • Schedule and document meetings
        • Participate in discovery/gathering initial data sets
        • Set up the client in Hub task management systems such as Jira and Basecamp
        • Assist with tech stack set-up, including Mailchimp, Stripe, Salesforce and News Revenue Engine
        • Conduct and analyze audience surveys
        • Build and test Mailchimp fundraising automations 
      • Oversee requests in Jira ticketing system
        • Work with leadership to ensure tickets are completed or triaged in a timely manner
      • Help produce and deliver monthly client performance reports
    • Client Communication
      • Guide clients through each phase of their work with the Hub, from onboarding and launch through campaigns, ensuring they understand the milestones and benchmarks on their road to success
      • Work with leadership to communicate service changes and new service opportunities
      • Help foster a culture of learning and sharing within the Hub; highlight and share client success stories in Slack
    • Documentation
      • Expand and strengthen the Hub’s internal documentation, as well as our client-facing Knowledge Base 
        • Own documentation for our membership and audience development repositories. Contribute to existing documentation; rewrite it when it’s unclear, adding details or making it more engaging when needed.

    Qualifications

    • 1 year of experience in audience development for a newsroom, product management, nonprofit fundraising, communications, or similar.
    • You are a positive and strong communicator (verbal and written) and understand how to keep team members informed
    • You have strong planning and organizational skills.
    • You have excellent interpersonal skills and don’t shy away from tough conversations when required to get the job done
    • You are entrepreneurial, good at managing your time and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
    • Working knowledge of project management software, such as Jira and Basecamp, a plus
    • Experience with Google Analytics a plus

    About the Team

    The Hub is a fully remote operation built on communication, transparency, trust and respect. This role will be shaped by the News Revenue Hub team and incorporate feedback and lessons learned from our members. Your day to day work will likely include: 

    • Interfacing with journalists, editors, and C-Suite executives representing our member newsrooms
    • Training newsroom staff on best practices related to newsletter and product development, SEO, social media, analytics, and more
    • Setting up analytics and reports for member newsrooms

    We understand that you may not have direct experience in all of these areas. In fact, our team comes from a variety of backgrounds including journalism, technology, nonprofit management and the humanities sector. But we do ask that applicants have demonstrated experience working in journalism. Additionally, we value an openness to learning and collaboration.
