Assistant Editor, Time Inc. Content Solutions

Time Inc. Content Solutions, the custom-publishing division of Time Inc., is seeking an Assistant Editor to work on a number of print and digital publications. We are looking for someone who is extremely organized and possesses extraordinary attention to detail, can work under deadline pressure, has good communication skills and can proactively manage a project and work well in a team.

Responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

--Keeping track of schedules and understanding where a project is in the production cycle, and what steps are needed to meet deadlines
--Trafficking day-to-day copy needs. This includes getting copy to our copy desk, fact-check department, and legal, and then inputting those changes in InCopy.
--Pitching new story ideas at editorial planning meetings
--Calling sources to track down stories
--Sending contracts to writers, tracking costs, and performing other editorial administrative duties
--Working in a CMS to upload Web content
--Responding to client requests in an efficient and courteous manner
--Acting as a liaison/working closely with our art teams, our account team, and the client to make sure projects and one-off requests don't slip through the cracks

You will essentially act as a mini managing editor/project manager. You’ll be involved in all the steps of creating content, from lineup generation to proofing final pages, and you'll be expected to know the status of all the moving parts of a project. Experience working with clients is a plus, because you'll have to know how to communicate in a way that is clear and courteous in face-to-face meetings and via phone and email. We seek someone with solid writing and copy-edit skills, as you'll be managing a lot of copy changes and will be asked to help with display copy, cutting to fit, and writing smaller pieces.

Knowledge of InCopy, InDesign and HTML is extremely helpful, but we'd be willing to train the right candidate on the job. This is a temp position.

Please send a cover letter, resume and clips of writing to: samuel_martin@timeinc.com
