About SAJA

The South Asian Journalists Association was founded in March 1994 by Sree Sreenivasan, Om Malik, Dilip Massand and MK Srinivasan, with a total of 18 members.

Today, it represents 1,000+ journalists of South Asian origin working in the U.S. and Canada. It serves as a network for training, inspiration and support, and aims to improve coverage of South Asia and the diaspora.

Over the years, SAJA has given out more than $400,000 in scholarships and fellowships.

Support us by becoming a member or making a donation. You don’t have to be South Asian or a journalist to join.

To achieve SAJA’s mission more effectively, SAJA helped in the formation of SAJA Group, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.  SAJA and SAJA Group, Inc. jointly plan and execute SAJA programming and events.
