    ASSIGNMENT MANAGER: WASH., DC. Fox News Channel is looking for an experienced Assignment Manager for our Washington, DC Bureau.  The ideal candidate will have years of experience working on an assignment desk in a major television news market. An understanding of national/international news, politics and public affairs.  As the Assignment Manager you will be responsible for making editorial and logistical decisions in a fast paced 24 hour news environment.  The Assignment Manager will oversee all assignment desk operations.  Qualified applicants will be experienced in recruiting, assessing, and training staff and freelance employees.  Candidates should have experience managing multiple employees, giving yearly assessment reviews, staff scheduling and special event planning.Requirements: Bachelor's degree or better, preferably in journalism. 8+ years' experience working in broadcast journalism. Experience managing employees. Good editorial judgment as well as strong logistical skills. Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Keen understanding of how to gather news LIVE in the Washington, DC area and a familiarity with microwave and satellite transmission. Knowledge of national politics and the DC area. The ability to work well in a fast paced and intense atmosphere. Flexibility to work various shifts and weekends when needed. Ability to multi-task and prioritize is a necessity.
