Beacon, a new independent platform for journalism based in Oakland, Calif., is looking for freelance reporters who might be interested in launching projects with us next month.

We’re looking for writers interested in using Beacon as a platform for crowd-funding their reporting on stories they're passionate about. Right now, we have over 200 writers on our roster covering everything from climate change to life in Colombia to the events in Ferguson, and thousands of subscribers on board.

Here’s a write-up on Beacon from The New York Times this spring: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/20/business/media/a-website-asks-readers-to-finance-independent-journalists.html

If you're interested in writing with Beacon and further job opportunities, please contact Anjuli Sastry at anjuli@beaconreader.com.
