    2015 SUMMER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM: Al Jazeera America is the U.S. news channel that provides both domestic and international news for American audiences. Aljazeera America offers a premier fellowship program for serious journalism students and/or recent grads to gain practical cross-platform (television and web) skills and experience to accelerate their post-graduate careers. Fellows benefit by: Doing real work that equips them with skills needed to excel in the profession. Receiving training and mentoring by seasoned journalists whosecareers span virtually every major broadcast, cable and web news organization. Becoming part of a global brand and network with reach around the world. Program Overview: Ten- to twelve-week fellowship in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, or Chicago working for a news bureau, news desk, newscast, show or for the website. Varied responsibilities include but not limited to researching and developing stories for air, conducting interviews, fact checking scripts, gathering video elements, and monitoring social media. Rounding out the Fellowship experience are "Brown Bag" information sessions led by Editorial leaders and staff to provide fellows with understanding of the entire news organization. Program Management: News executives/managers directing Fellows on day-to-day basis and a peer providing informal support within their departments. Each Fellow will be given a work plan. Brown Bag Presenters to lead informational meetings for Fellows. What to Expect from the Fellowship: Real work. Depth of experience - news desk, output, shows. Daily supervision. Feedback from team. Fellowship dates:  June 1 - August 21 (for Medill and UCLA - June 15 -September 4) For consideration, submit by Friday, May 1, 2015: Three (3) story idea pitches (100 words per story idea) on "what is the story you would cover?" and "how would you cover it?"
