The Department of Journalism and the Writing Professions at Baruch College/CUNY is seeking an experienced multimedia journalist for a tenure-track position as assistant professor, starting in Fall 2016. The successful candidate will have at least several years’ experience in a professional news environment and must demonstrate solid news judgment and an ability to conceptualize, produce and teach others to produce multimedia news and features packages across platforms, including mobile sites and apps. Experience in international journalism is a plus. Proficiency in at least three of these areas – audio, video, digital photography and social media – is required; all four would be a plus. The candidate must be proficient in Photoshop, Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier, and Audacity, and with content management systems, particularly WordPress. The candidate is expected either to remain active as a journalist and publish regularly, or to conduct research and publish work on evolving technologies and trends in the news media and their impact. Experience in teaching at the college level is a plus. A commitment to develop online courses would be welcome. A master’s degree is required.
