This correspondent will be based in New York City and will report/transmit/package news in a variety of formats from North America. 

IF

1. You report and/or produce news and enterprise stories from the United States for a wire service, newspaper, magazine, TV, radio or digital publication for 2-5 years, and are on top of what makes news in the region: American politics (domestic and international), financial markets, gun control laws, racial issues, Silicon Valley startups etc., and/or
2. You work with fixers to secure bureaucratic permissions, arrange travel and boarding, as well as collaborate with translators to fix and conduct interviews from the field, and/or
3. You hold a degree in journalism, international relations, political science, conflict resolution and/or economics, business management and financial analysis and/or
4. You write/shoot and edit stories in text, photo, video and/or audio — even better if it’s using smartphones end-to-end — across politics, business, health, human interest, conflict reporting, entertainment, culture etc. and/or
5. You research, interview and file on-the-spot and enterprises stories in components that are publishable across wires, newspapers, magazines, TV/YouTube channels, copy/visuals-focused social networks, mobile apps, etc, and/or
6. You put together B-rolls, quotes, voiceovers, graphics and anything else, even basic HTML/CSS, to create and file quick multimedia packages using all kinds of video/audio/photo editing tools.

THEN

• Join the Tripod Desk at Zee Media’s English news startup, a mobile-first global TV network reporting through a regional (South Asian) lens, and
• Break away from legacy newsrooms and come create the template for sourcing, producing, distributing news in a data-driven, mobile-first, multi-screen world, and
• Leave newsroom hierarchies and silos to work on teams where journalists, researchers, technologists, designers, etc collaborate to learn from each other, and
• Switch from a career where the only change between jobs is the employer’s name and the prefix in your designation, to one where you will grow from specialist to T-shaped generalist — with one deep expertise, but also other related skills.
