Production Assistant, Student Reporting Labs

    PBS NewsHour is looking for a Production Assistant, Student Reporting Labs (PA) to work with the video journalism program in schools around the country.  The PA is highly organized and detail-oriented, and will work closely with the Student Reporting Labs Director and Managing Editor on day-to-day operations, such as budgets, scheduling and development of editorial workflow to ensure operational and technical efficiency maximizing grant allocation opportunities.

    Primary responsibilities include tracking and maintaining all grant and project-related activities, tracking all production costs and defining allocations of specific grants, and maintaining analytics spread sheets. Further, the PA will serve as lead on program contracts including student releases, mentor stipends, and station contracts, and manage daily operations such as arranging travel, planning, and execution of SRL Student Academy and Teacher Workshops to include logistics, communications, and preparation of materials, supplies, and catering as needed.

    Qualified applicants have Bachelor’s degree, 1-2 years of media production experience, or a combination of education and experience. The applicant should also have financial aptitude with proficiency in Excel and Google Spreadsheets, ability to work with a positive attitude, calm demeanor, and flexibility to handle multiple tasks, a strong work ethic, and have an interest in public broadcasting, education and/or journalism.
