    PBS NewsHour Weekend is a current affairs program from WNET, the leading provider of news, current affairs and documentary content for public television.   PBS NewsHour Weekend is a daily news program airing that focuses on national and international news of the day as well as longer lead stories and issues. PBS NewsHour Weekend is a 30 minute television broadcast, airing nationally on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
     
     The Producer will plan and coordinate the complete range of activities involved in the production of news and current affairs program segments of varying length. Reporting to the Executive Producer, the Producer will oversee a small production team of two people working closely  with the editorial team at all stages of the production process from story development through post-production. Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to, writing and producing same-day news coverage, researching and pitching stories; shooting video, developing storylines and identifying locations and characters; producing and directing shoots; conducting interviews, working with on-camera talent as required, writing scripts; supervising the editing, editing,  and delivery of segments.  In addition, the Producer will liaise, as necessary, with various other departments, including publicity, production services, finance and legal.

    Work days are Wednesday through Sunday.   

    Required Skills
    BS/BA, or equivalent work experience;
    At least four (4) years’ experience in television or multimedia production, at least two of which will have been spent producing current affairs segments and/or experience working in a daily news environment; Exceptional research, communication and presentation skills will be needed as well as the ability to write for video; Ability to shoot and edit video (using Premiere);
    Frequent travel may be required.Optional Skills
    Candidates with editorial experience in print, online or broadcast journalism are preferred.
