    Status: Temporary: 6 weeks, with potential for extension

    Location: Chicago, but USA-based remote is possible with proven remote experience

    Compensation:
    $30/hour

    Role: You’ll work with our business development and marketing team to surface insights on potential partners and determine best next steps for action. Your ultimate goal will be to identify and organize a pipeline of leads to help match which Hearken services are most useful to potential partners and learn if they are interested.

    Partner research:

    • Conduct research on a variety of former and potential partners and write up clear and concise communication around the research and recommended next steps.

    Organize contacts and notes in our CRM (Customer Relationship Management system):
    • Work within Hearken’s CRM (Hubspot) to tag, review and assign and execute follow-up activities

    Conduct targeted communication:
    • As we determine the best mode of communication, you’ll be emailing or calling to reach out and learn and note potential partner needs, and match them with any services that will help them achieve their goals.

    What we’re looking for in Business Development Support:
    • Excited to be an advocate for helping newsrooms solve tough problems through Hearken

    • Consultative listener, empathetic, convincing, and can balance internal and external goals

    • Great communicator: a clear writer, and confident phone rapport - are curious, thoughtful, and quick to identify helpful feedback

    • Quick learner who is web-savvy

    • Eager, helpful and resourceful. Your first impulse is to see if you can find out an answer on your own, and you’re not afraid to ask for help if you can’t find it.

    Overall: We’re looking for an advocate, not a traditional salesperson. We want someone who is listening and helpful and who will only offer solutions if they’re the right fit.
