    The Tallahassee Democrat is seeking a Multimedia Reporter. This multimedia reporter will be expected to post regularly for digital, interact with the community through social media, write and maintain blogs, tweet, produce video, particularly for mobile content and write dailies about passion topics, including families, faith and volunteerism. This may include profiles; watch dog articles and breaking news as it relates to the passion topics. This multimedia reporter will also shoot video, monitor the TLH mobile, digital, and Web sites; and use social media outlets to gather and disseminate information about families, faith and volunteer opportunities. Also works with photographers and others to present stories on appropriate platforms.

     

    This multimedia reporter collaborates with the TLH team on local community coverage. Must have the ability to produce stories not in terms of how it will impress people, but how it will affect the community. This position has a strong emphasis on digital, blogging and video, particularly for mobile.

     

    Qualified candidate will be able to produce content in multiple formats (text, photo, video and audio, daily blogs and tweets), be experienced in use of social media and alternative storytelling techniques, such as video or Web-based graphics and will work with the TLH Editor to set the beat's agenda.

     

    Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.
     
    RequirementsThis position requires a Journalism or social media degree or equivalent experience. Candidate must have excellent journalistic background; effective broadcast communication and good organizational skills. Computer experience including Word, Excel, Photoshop and general knowledge of database computer programs is required. Must be able to act independently, working outside newsroom with little direct supervision. Must be able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned. A valid Florida driver’s license is required; must meet minimum state insurance requirements.
