Looking for a digital media assistant for a renowned editorial photographer. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in photography, retouching, and digital imaging. Michael Yamashita is an internationally known National Geographic photojournalist who travels widely on editorial and commercial assignments and depends on good organization and management back home. Despite the occasional high-pressure deadline, it is a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Ideal candidate should be a sharp, conscientious person who can think ahead
and anticipate future needs. Main duties would entail all aspects of Digital Asset Management, including:

    (1) uploading/downloading files from ftp/hard drives
    (2) scanning 35mm negatives
    (3) creating digital catalogs
    (4) managing the digital archive
    (5) keywording / meta-tagging image files
    (6) tweaking and exporting images
(both quick tweaks and more involved high-resolution retouching)
    (7) occasionally managing correspondence with editors, art directors, etc.

    Required technical skills include:
    (1) General tech savvy
    (2) Knowledge of Mac platform
    (3) Strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom (from basic image
resizing/resampling, to color correction, saturation, tone curves, high
    passing, etc.)
    (4) Solid knowledge of digital imaging (file formats, resolution, color
modes, etc.). Casual knowledge of HTML, Camera RAW, and Expression Media/Phase One/Media Pro are a plus. Basic training of specialized software and an overview of the system will be provided.

This is a great opportunity for a college student or recent grad, and would
demand about 3 days / 24 hours a week in Morris County, NJ.

Please send a short description of yourself and your skills, and a
resume/ portfolio if you have one to mikeyama@aol.com
    .
