    NYPR seeks a skilled, highly motivated producer for “Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen,” the weekly national program about creativity, pop culture, ideas, and the arts, co-produced by WNYC and Public Radio International. 

    The Associate Producer reports to the Senior Producer and collaborates with the host, creating content for the weekly radio program and website. The successful candidate will be a passionate and informed consumer of arts and culture, an exceptional writer, savvy and assertive as a booker of guests, fluent in the use of digital media, and truly collegial. We are looking for a sharp, fresh, confident thinker to help steer Studio 360’s coverage of cultural trends and news, and artists and makers in every cultural realm. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Contribute ideas for all aspects of the program: interviews, reported stories, listener engagement projects, and themed shows
    • Produce interview segments for and with host: research and book guests; develop thoughtful and surprising questions; use clips and other materials creatively; and edit recorded interviews
    • Produce weekly fast-turnaround segment on cultural news topics
    • Write scripts and interview questions for host
    • Write and produce multimedia content for website
    • Develop original content for social media
    • Write promotional copy for internal and external use
    • Assist in managing and tracking the editorial content of show
    • Research and conceive special projects in depth
    • Some administrative tasks as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS:


    • At least five years’ experience in a fast-paced, idea-driven media environment
    • Demonstrated engagement with diverse aspects of contemporary culture, among them movies, music, books, theater, comedy, dance, television, online, gaming, design, and architecture.
    • Superb writing skills showing originality and humor; experience writing for broadcast or performance strongly preferred
    • Proficiency with audio editing (preferably using ProTools) or related video software
    • Production experience with multimedia (image and/or video) preferred
    • Experience working with talent preferred
    • Experience working with freelancers in an editorial capacity preferred
    • Proficiency with a range of social media platforms and awareness of new platforms
    • Creative problem-solving in editing stories and interviews
    • Familiarity with HTML and content management systems
    • Scrupulous attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
    • Effective time-management and ability to produce excellent work on deadline
    • Ability to collaborate closely and cheerfully with others and thrive in a team environment
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between New York Public Radio and SAG-AFTRA.
