     WNYC seeks an Executive Producer who can continue to shape and grow the series, and who is comfortable making editorial decisions in cooperation with the host and WNYC.  The Executive Producer works closely with the host and WNYC staff to refine the list of potential guests; book and record guests; manage the project budget effectively; communicate regularly with all partners in the project; and collaborate with WNYC in the marketing and distribution of the series.  This position reports to Tony Phillips, the Vice President for On Demand Content, WNYC Studios. 

    Responsibilities included are (but not limited to):

    • Provides editorial leadership and guidance.
    • Pursue the best guests and advocate for conversations that will keep listeners tuned in and excited by what they hear.
    • Proven ability to successfully grow a strong audience base
    • Oversee the show editing process to ensure high-quality programming with no factual errors or audible edits.
    • Work closely with program hosts on ideas for series, segments and the sound of the show
    • Hire, train, mentor and supervise temporary and per diem staff as necessary to support the project.
    • Work closely with WNYC to initiate special programming, coordinating on-air, web elements and marketing
    • Responsible for overseeing staffing, communicating with human resources, and other administrative duties, as needed.
    • Ensure that diverse ideas, perspectives and voices are reflected in the show’s subject matter, guest and contributor selection
    • Arrive with and maintain an active rolodex of contacts, including health specialists, leading medical practitioners and commentators, reporters, newsmakers, publishing, film, and theater contacts

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; degree in Journalism preferred
    • At least seven years’ broadcast experience, preferably in pre-recorded audio and radio
    • Proven and demonstrated ability to foster high standards and leadership ability
    • Ability to work well with talent and enjoy a creative environment
    • Flexibility and ability to maintain professionalism under deadline pressure
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and hosts
    • Audio editing experience required; Cool Edit/Audacity, Easy Track and/or DAVID experience, ProTools, Audition, Ableton, others accepted
    • Highly motivated and well organized
