    WGBH News and the New England Center for Investigative Reporting seek an Investigations Editor with data journalism chops to lead, edit and teach journalists who want to make a difference. 

    Investigations should result in original, in-depth stories for WGBH News public radio and television, as well as for print and digital news partners of NECIR such as the Boston Globe. 
    The Investigations Editor will be expected to: 
    Develop ideas and avenues of inquiry for original investigations; 
    Work with spreadsheets, databases, SQL and other technology tools for data reporting; 
    Edit WGBH News reporters assigned to special projects for accuracy, fairness and accountability; 
    Supervise and edit reporters with the New England Center for Investigative Reporting, our nonprofit partner; 
    Lead regular instructional sessions on investigative techniques for the WGBH newsroom and possibly others; 
    Assist in the expansion of our investigative team, as resources allow; 
    Communicate effectively and cordially with colleagues across different organizations and platforms; 
    Juggle multiple projects and deadlines; 
    Encourage creativity and high standards; 
    Facilitate content partnerships with other news organizations; 
    Coordinate with development and marketing staff to assist in funding projects; 
    Represent WGBH at public events; and 
    Keep a sense of humor. 
    The position is full-time and based at WGBH News in Boston. 

    Essential Functions 
    70% 
    Develop ideas and avenues of inquiry for original investigations. Supervise and edit reporters and investigations for accuracy, fairness and accountability. This includes working with spreadsheets, databases, SQL and other technology tools for data reporting. 
    20% 
    Lead regular instructional sessions on investigative techniques for the WGBH newsroom and possibly others. 
    10% 
    Perform other duties as assigned.
