SAJA Programs

SAJA offers a range of programs, designed to provide educational, training and career advancement opportunities to journalists of South Asian origin and ournalists with interest in covering South Asia or South Asians. 

Scholarships

SAJA is committed to promoting high-quality journalism by enabling students to acquire the necessary education to meet high journalistic standards. SAJA scholarships assist in helping journalism students meet a portion of the surging tuition fees and costs at North American universities.  Learn More

Professional Development

SAJA's Professional Development Grant program provides grants to working journalists for pursuing training and professional development goals.  The program helps journalists attend journalism conferences and training programs and meet other career advancement needs.

Grants under this program must be consistent with SAJA’s goals of improving coverage of South Asia in the U.S. media, promote diversity in newsrooms and assist journalists with their professional development and training needs.  Learn More

Internship Awards

SAJA's Internship Program is designed to improve opportunities for journalism students to participate and learn from on-the-job training programs and on-site internships. The program is designed to support candidates who have already secured internships but need supplemental income during the internship period.  Learn More

Reporting Fellowships

The SRF program is designed to promote in-depth, long-form news reports covering issues which are often ignored or given only fleeting coverage by the media.  Examples of these are news of natural disasters, accidents and scandals which are often prominently featured as "Breaking News" over a few new cycles, spanning a few days but whose long-term impact are seldom covered in depth, if at all.  Learn More
