    Salary: $52,000 - $77,000 per year
Reports to: Senior Vice President of Revenue
Deadline to apply: March 27, 2022
    To apply: https://boards.greenhouse.io/newsrevenuehub/jobs/4369242004

The News Revenue Hub, a nonprofit that builds web-based products and provides consulting to news organizations in service of the public good, is looking for a full time Business Development Coordinator to join our growing team. We are seeking an energetic, savvy relationship-builder who enjoys networking and meeting new people. The ideal candidate is empathetic, organized, and excellent at wrangling stakeholders (whether internal team members or prospects), keeping them on track, and gaining their insights so we can close sales. The candidate is personally passionate about mission-driven work – our own and our clients’ — and believes in democratic principles and fighting misinformation. The ideal candidate will have experience in sales and customer service, even if it’s informal. Experience in SaaS sales, marketing, business development, nonprofits, or journalism is helpful but not required.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work with Senior Vice President of Revenue to manage the News Revenue Hub's prospect pipeline, from initial application, to first discovery call, to signature.
    • Keep our prospect pipeline full and growing by researching, recruiting, and meeting with qualified prospective clients about their needs; consistently follow up with prospects who contact us via our website and other channels.
    • Provide initial screening of prospects:
      • When prospects are a good fit for consulting services, advance them to further discovery with internal stakeholders.
      • When prospects are a good fit for our SaaS products, advance them to the News Revenue Engine team.
      • When prospects aren’t a good fit for our services, provide advice that helps them become a good fit in the future.
    • Schedule follow-up conversations with qualified prospects as needed; include appropriate internal stakeholders when necessary.
    • Own the proposal process for new consulting clients: draft initial proposal and adjust based on feedback from appropriate internal stakeholders and prospects.
    • Own, manage, and improve our recruiting processes. Ensure there is transparent tracking of prospects and cross-team inclusion in the process.
    • Own prospecting materials: create, manage, and present high quality proposals, slide decks, and documentation to prospective clients.
    • Work with the Success Team and other teams to identify new service opportunities as well as opportunities to continuously improve client experience – even when it means reducing services.
    • Work with the Marketing Manager to promote these initiatives.
    • Work with the Director of Learning and Labs to document successes.
    • Manage external relationships; develop, identify, and help negotiate partnerships that could grow business or improve standing in the industry.
    • Travel to conferences and other events that help increase our prospect pipeline.

    About You:

    • You’re energetic, a born relationship-builder. You make friends easily. You enjoy networking and meeting people.
    • You’ve been responsible for a budget and meeting financial goals. You have experience in sales and customer service, even if it’s informal.
    • Experience in SaaS sales, crowdfunding, campaigning, marketing, analytics/SEO, business development, nonprofits, or journalism is helpful but not required.
    • You’re independently motivated and comfortable working in a fully remote team. You’re able to set and meet ambitious goals.
    • You’re organized, detail- and process oriented. You enjoy building systems, learning new technologies, and documenting what you know.
    • You’re empathetic: you can read people and “read the room;” you know when to push or pull back; you have a unique ability to intuit prospects’ motivations and concerns
    • You’re persistent – but your success is based on understanding clients’ motivations and needs rather than forcing them (the hard sell). You want what’s best for our clients and you love coming up with solutions that truly help. You don’t love selling things to people that they don’t need.
    • You’re curious, creative, and willing to adapt alongside a growing organization in a changing field.
    • You’re personally passionate about mission-driven work – our own and our clients’. You believe in democratic principles  and fighting misinformation.

Benefits of working at the Hub include:

    • 100% remote team with post-pandemic potential travel
    • Full health benefits (medical, dental, vision)
    • 401k plan with 5% match
    • Home office stipend and cell phone reimbursement
    • Flexible work hours with a generous vacation policy
    • Life insurance
    • Annual performance reviews with merit-based increases and opportunities for advancement
    • Contribute to a mission-driven organization with a diverse and inclusive team of people who are passionate about helping news organizations build financial sustainability—because the public deserves access to quality journalism.
