Technology Editor

Are you a news junkie who can’t get enough of the latest tech developments? When you think about a fun night, does debating the future of wearables come to mind? Do your friends say that you’re a little too addicted to Twitter?

PolicyMic is hiring a Technology Editor to lead our technology coverage. We’re looking for a passionate leader who is hungry to plan news stories, manage writers, and generate quality coverage for our millions of readers.

You will work directly with our senior editors to publish original writing about what’s happening in the world of technology  and why it matters. You will be in charge of setting the voice and direction of the section, ensuring that our stories provide young people with the sharp perspective they look for when reading PolicyMic.

Responsibilities:

• Design PolicyMic’s Technology voice and mission
• Generate creative, fresh story ideas and headlines based around the news cycle
• Build our editorial calendar and plan our news coverage
• Utilize sophisticated analytics tools to program content targeted for social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc.)
• Help manage 100+ weekly Technology writers
• Edit Technology articles from contributors

Must Haves:

• Passion for the technology and voracious reader of online content from diverse sources
• Creative, independent, & outside-the-box thinker
• Experience writing and/or editing for online publication or news outlet
• Training in AP style
• Passion for changing the world and empowering our generation
• Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
