    Homepage Editor position

    Newsweek.com's Home Page Editor is responsible for everything from event planning to breaking news to picking coverage topics. Duties include keeping a staff of a dozen web writers from covering the same ground, editing a half-a-dozen breaking news items a day, assigning the stories of the day in unique ways and making sure it all comes out looking good on Newsweek.com and our social accounts.

    The Home Page Editor should:

    ·  have excellent writing and editing skills.

    ·  be able to manage writers and make assignments.

    ·  have a general news interest and posses a wide knowledge of current events (including sports)

    ·  be an excellent planner and communicator.

    ·  have breaking news editing or writing experience.

    The Home Page Editor must must be used to the speed that breaking news requires. Experience judging sources and deciding what to trust is a must. They must also be able to find fresh angles on the day’s stories and make sure that Newsweek.com is covering all the news in Newsweek’s voice.

    Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. Several years working in newsrooms and breaking news experience is a must. The ideal candidate will be an expert at Twitter and finding news stories before anyone else.
