WGBH News is a multi-media news outlet that broadcasts on radio, TV, and web, and includes daily TV program, Greater Boston. WGBH News strives to provide unique perspective on issues and events of significance to the communities in and around Boston.

Position Overview

WGBH News is looking for an experienced executive producer to manage all aspects of the production of Greater Boston and Beat the Press including management of editorial and production personnel while utilizing all the resources of our trans-media newsroom which includes local TV, Radio and Digital.

Reporting to the News Director, the Executive Producer will be responsible for setting editorial and production standards, provide direction to the staff, and act as a liaison with upper management. The EP will manage internal relationships with the other departments and provide leadership in the newsroom. The Executive Producer will be responsible for the development, conceptualization, editorial direction, and day-to-day production management in consultation with the News Director and the Host of the Show. The EP will strive to achieve new and innovative ways to improve the Show for a higher audience and community impact utilizing the resources in the Newsroom.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Strategize for a higher visibility and impact of the shows produced at WGBH Newsroom including Greater Boston.

- Manage TV staff by providing directions and timely feedback.

- Provide leadership in leveraging resources across multi-platform.

- Surpass the “news of the day” mentality and reach for bigger conversations and themes to stories and segments

- Implement the WGBH News brand focusing on greater depth and perspective.

- Provide leadership on technical advances in consultation with other departments.

- Fill-in as show producer

- Other duties as assigned

Skills Required

At least 7 years of newsroom experience and producing a television newscast or news magazine experience are required. Experience in managing personnel is required. Candidates must have strong editorial judgment, proven leadership skills, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and supervisory skills are critical, as well as the ability to create an environment that fosters team work.

Educational Requirements

College degree is required. Graduate degree preferred.
