Production Assistant, Segment Unit

PBS NewsHour is seeking a Production Assistant for the Segment Unit who will provide a diverse range of writing, research, editing, producing, and tracking services. The Production Assistant will exercise independent judgment, and collaborate with the Managing Producer, Producer(s), Senior Producer(s), editor(s) and others for the coordination of the many production elements involved with producing a daily news program television and online broadcast.

Primary responsibilities include preparing news material and news feed, writing scripts and gathering videos for day-of-air segments, assisting in covering breaking news, and researching and fulfilling video requests for PBS NewsHour Producers. Further, provide production assistance, and aid in maintenance of the video library, field-produce interviews or shoot video on-site, contribute to blog, and Assist producers/production team to ensure stories ready for air.

College degree in journalism, communications, political science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or introductory experience with broadcast and online journalism, including writing, editing, and shooting preferred.
