PBS NewsHour: Director, Student Reporting Labs

    PBS NewsHour is seeking a Director for the Student Reporting Labs. Student Reporting Labs (SRL) is an innovative video journalism program in 100 schools around the country. The SRL Director oversees operations, activities and events to ensure highest standards, and positive experiences, success and growth for teachers, students and PBS stations in the rapidly expanding program.

    The Director will oversee day-to-day operations, mentor and coach Lab managers, teachers, schools, and stations to ensure program success. Additionally, they will create editorial calendars and other workflow processes to fulfill grant requirements in full compliance with budgets and contracts, including internships, equipment stipends, mentor contracts and payments. Further, they will be the lead planner, executor for SRL Student Academy and Teacher Professional Development Conferences, write monthly newsletters, Teacher of the Month, Station of the Month, Ask the Alumni and other content for SRL site and other platforms, as well as oversee social platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat.

    Qualified applicants should have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing multifaceted education and digital media projects, a college degree, or equivalent amount of combined experience and education. They should demonstrate the ability to successfully oversee large-scale, national projects, and grant fulfillment, possess excellent organizational, project planning and time management skills with careful attention to detail, and have excellent interpersonal and communications skills. The Director should be proficient in image editing software, and have the proven ability to write/edit and produce interactive content.
