PBS NewsHour: Front-End Developer

    PBS NewsHour is in search of a Front-End Developers to work with the digital team to design and build PBS NewsHour products and contribute to the overall creative direction of the brand.

    Primary responsibilities include developing visual standards and creating designs based on feedback from stakeholders, making use of reusable front-end frameworks by exploring prototyping new products and interfaces that push PBS NewsHour forwards. The Developer collaborates with designers, developers and editors, partners with reporters to research and produce data visualizations on data-driven news stories.

    Qualified applicants have a college degree in computer science, experience in journalism, minimum three (3) years as a front-end developer, or a combination of education and experience. The applicant is an expert user of UX/UI principles, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketch, HTML5, CSS, and some experience with JavaScript including libraries/tools, such as jQuery, Sass. The Developer will have excellent organizational, project planning, interpersonal, and time management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment with shifting priorities and deadline pressures.
