    Pop-Up Magazine Productions is conducting a search for a full-time social media writer and editor to work with our bimonthly weekend magazine, The California Sunday Magazine, and our acclaimed live show, Pop-Up Magazine. The position is based in our San Francisco office.

    The California Sunday Magazine publishes deeply reported stories and beautiful photography from across California, the West, Asia, and Latin America. Launched in late 2014, California Sunday has been a finalist for ten National Magazine Awards, including for General Excellence, Magazine of the Year, Reporting, Design, and Photography, and a winner three times. Pop-Up Magazine is a live magazine, a night of new, live-scored, multimedia stories performed by writers, radio producers, photographers, and filmmakers at large theaters across the country, like Lincoln Center and BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in New York, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, the Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, and the Warner Theatre in Washington DC. We have also collaborated on live magazine performances with Beck, ESPN, and the TED Conference.

    Our Assistant Editor for Social Media will be responsible for all social platforms, including email newsletters, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, with an emphasis on growth. You should be a clear, direct writer, and show a knack for social engagement, analytics, and audience development. You will work closely with senior editorial staff at both California Sunday and Pop-Up Magazine to think creatively about ways to make the most out of each social platform as a unique editorial medium, and engage with our audience. You will help define our voice on these platforms, write all social content, and draw on all available data to help Pop-Up Magazine and California Sunday grow audience and increase the impact of our journalism. You will also have the opportunity to participate in story meetings, pitch story ideas, and contribute to Pop-Up Magazineand California Sunday in a variety of ways. There may be opportunities to travel with Pop-Up Magazine.
