    The ideal Special Projects Coordinator is someone who is extremely web-savvy, video smart, detail-oriented and has a strong passion for and extensive knowledge of news and online media, and a solid work ethic. This person will be working with a number of high profile companies, organizations and individuals, therefore must have extremely effective communication skills. The Special Projects Coordinator will work with the Special Projects Editor, and alongside the entire editorial team, to manage our fast-growing franchise of special editorial projects, including our editorial supplements and our awards and recognition programs. The primary duties of the Special Projects Coordinator are managing key project deadlines, tracking project-related submissions, overseeing our awards nomination and review process. The Special Projects Coordinator will also work with our video team to build out our editorial video channel. This position also comes with some administrative responsibilities, such as building and maintaining editorial databases, meeting scheduling and tracking freelance and award submissions.


    Basic Qualifications:

    • 2 + year of experience working in a newsroom
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Slack Smart Sheet, and project-management platforms
    • A demonstrated track record of managing editorial content
    • Must be a detail-oriented individual and superb multi-tasker.
    • Must have great interpersonal skills to interact with heavy hitters from the financial services world.
    • Must have excellent editorial judgment, to recognize when a potential piece of content is problematic and needs to be reworked or rejected.
    • Needs above-average copy-editing skills.
    • Eye for identifying red flags and conflicts with advertising and editorial content.
    • Online experience, including content management systems and site platforms.

    Preferences

    • Background covering financial services, especially wealth management
    • A deep contact list in the industry 
    • A familiarity with InvestmentNews.com and InvestmentNews: what and who we cover
    • Certification in project management would be a plus
