About SAJA

South Asian Journalists Association was founded in March 1994 with 18 members. Today, it represents 1,000+ journalists of South Asian origin working in the US and Canada. It serves as a network for training, inspiration and support for journalists covering South Asia and the South Asian diaspora. SAJA also aims to improve the coverage of the Subcontinent and its diaspora. Over the years, SAJA has given out more than $400,000 in scholarships and fellowships. Our 30th anniversary conference and gala awards dinner is Oct 11-12, 2024, in NYC. Support us by becoming a member (you don’t have to be South Asian or a journalist) or making a donation. More info at SAJA.org · X: @sajaHQ · IG: @theofficialsaja· LinkedIn: South Asian Journalists Association· YT:SAJA_TV

SAJA does all this with NO paid staff. Its volunteers — from  elected board members to chapter coordinators to individuals helping with various events — make SAJA possible.

To achieve SAJA’s mission more effectively, SAJA helped in the formation of SAJA Group, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.  SAJA and SAJA Group, Inc. jointly plan and execute SAJA programming and events.

The Executive Committee is responsible for the day-to-day operations of SAJA, and reports to the SAJA Board. For more on SAJA's functioning, see its Bylaws.

Critical to SAJA's success are its many supporters, including members, friends and media organizations and others who donate time and money to SAJA.

You can contribute by making a donation online (or by check payments).

Another way to support SAJA is to become a paid member. You don't need to be a journalist or South Asian to be a member.
