Spot viral and trending stories and create content - stories, videos - to respond in an intelligent and timely fashion. Find raw video and other visual content that has the potential to go viral. Create unique web content - videos, Google Hangouts, Vines, etc. Cover breaking news and ensure site has latest  updates on key stories. Be a champion for best web journalism practices and a coach to the staff on producing better web content and socializing it with greater impact. Oversee content moderation on the website. Produce periodic special enterprise projects with a focus on local news. Have a passion for and knowledge of web metric tools such as Google Analytics, and an ability to spot trends and identify opportunities for PIX11.com Be comfortable on camera; web staff occasionally discuss PIX11 web projects with anchors and reporters Qualifications: Minimum of 2-3 years of web production experience or similar experience in print or television newsroom. Comfortable with working on a range of content management systems and expert in use of social media to promote and distribute news content. Ability to work professionally with station staff to put out the best possible digital product. Passion for the news and digital presentation, and a commitment to fairness and accuracy in the pursuit of the best digital product possible. Curiosity about latest digital tools and a willingness to experiment with new ways to tell stories and reach a wider audience.

    OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR: NYC. Apply online at www.tribunemedia.com WPIX-TV. Responsible for all Live Production aspects of a live News broadcast.  Must coordinate all live  remotes utilized during a daily Newscast.  Supervise technical and News staff. Define field operational requirements related to the production of a live Newscast.  Solve problems in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure and be solution-oriented. Responsibilities: Oversee and coordinate technical operations directly related to the News department. Coordinate with the News desk and scheduling department to ensure proper staffing levels for News show activities. Aggressive monitoring of all remote transmissions for quality control. Supervise Production and Technical Staff as well as tracking/reporting crew hours. Analyze technical faults and facilitate or escalate when needed. Ensure operations run smoothly and that personnel and equipment resources are available as required. Media Management of the News Video Server (TONS) as well as ensure all field staff have access to the necessary portable media in and outside the newsroom. Qualifications: Two years of experience in Broadcast News television operations. Supervisory experience preferred. Familiar with News automation systems, digital and analog systems, Video Servers, Electronic News Gathering (ENG) operations, specifically satellite, microwave and cellular systems. Possess a well-balanced and comprehensive understanding of a daily News operation of a television station. Advanced PC Skills, working knowledge of current Windows and Mac operation systems. Experience with Final Cut Pro or other nonlinear editing platforms.  Extensive PC skills, both software and hardware. Excellent communication and problem solving skills. Acute attention to detail and team oriented. Bachelor Degree Curriculum required. High visual and aural acuity along with data entry using a keyboard. Ability to work alone without supervision. Ability to work under intense deadline and time  constraints.  Must become familiar with several union contracts. This position is demanding due to the many diverse tasks and technical problem solving this position must fulfill.  Must be able to deal with unusual situations and take responsive action. The position has direct impact on revenue and costs, especially during the prime time hours.  Flawed judgment could impair the operation of the station, resulting in the loss of tens of thousands of dollars.  Poor decisions in covering manpower needs could result in higher operating expenses amounting to thousands of dollars.  Failure to properly supervise people or equipment could ultimately put the station off-the-air with a resultant loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars in some circumstances. This position would have important operational contact with departments such as News, Production and Creative Services which operate through the evening hours.  As the News departments principal representative in the early morning hours, the Supervisor is expected to take charge and meet the sometimes countervailing needs of these departments. Contact with building management, (SL Green) WPIX/Tribune audio/video vendors, and other critical vendors such as HVAC  and fire protection.  In addition contact with various News organizations, viewers, and Union representatives is also extensive. This position must supervise approximately 30 union technicians from several different union all working to serve the News department.
