The digital editor is a key member of the daily global news team of PRI.org, a rapidly growing destination for people whose world is still expanding. The editor’s role is to lead, inspire and support PRI.org staff and editors of PRI’s The World, a daily radio show, in creating digital-first content for our millennial-based audience. The editor will attract and involve the public in major issues, news stories and cultural events around the globe. 

We’re looking for: Self-starters, multi-taskers, people obsessed with news and quality work, people who like pushing the envelope and want to engage with viewers/listeners/readers/commenters on various publishing platforms.

As the Digital Editor you will work with editors and reporters to create digital stories, including graphic, multimedia and interactive elements. These efforts will pioneer or deepen coverage. The Digital Editor must: 
— Be a superlative writer and editor, who knows how to quickly reorganize a story for maximum impact and can copyedit for accurate grammar, word use and style standards. 
— Master headlines and story summations that spur social sharing. 
— Imagine and create ways to help people find personal connections to issues. 
— Find, commission, edit/present audio, video, photos to animate coverage, social sharing. 
— Publish multimedia elements and stories to PRI.org and to social platforms. 
— Experiment with and stay informed of developing technologies

Qualified candidates must have at least 3 years professional journalistic experience. Experience creating graphic, multimedia and interactive elements. Experience with a daily news website is preferred. Knowledge of Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and HTML preferred. Skill with rapid multimedia production, editing and tagging. Extensive use and understanding of social media, trend spotting and analytics. Highly organized, able to meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills. Foreign experience and language skills are a plus.
