    The School of Communication at the University of Hartford has two full-time openings for applied assistant professorswith a start date of August 2016. These positions are for an initial two-year contract with opportunities for renewal and longer-term contracts. Applied faculty members are expected to demonstrate high levels of professional productivity, as evidenced by sustained excellence and innovation in their field of practice. Candidates with an interest in promoting and encouraging members of under-represented minorities to pursue careers in communication are especially welcome. Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:

    Public Relations/ Social Media – Ph.D. or a Master’s degree; substantial public relations work experience; expertise in the development and implementation of communication campaigns across traditional and digital media platforms; skilled in the use of social media for organizational/brand messaging; demonstrated effectiveness in relevant college or university teaching, and a willingness/ability to employ technology in teaching.

    Journalism/Media – A minimum of a Master’s degree is required and professional experience is preferred. Preferred candidates will have collegiate-level teaching experience or the equivalent professional experience and be able to teach a variety of courses related to writing, reporting and editing across a range of delivery platforms.
